If colonisation is poor, compare retained records from successful and unsuccessful batches. Start with delivered raw materials, moisture basis, mixing, loading, process continuity, cooling and transport. Then check spawn, handling and the receiving grow room. Altering the nitrogen addition immediately can hide a process or handling failure and create a new variable in the next batch.
Make the review specific enough to change one future decision. ‘Compost bad’ is not useful; ‘rear sensor remained cooler after filling density changed’ is an observation that can be investigated. Record the proposed change, its reason and what result would support or contradict the explanation. Use the testing and process-control guides for the relevant measurements.
