Harvest

Practical workbook

Run one picking round properly

Record: Kilograms in each grade, picking times, cap size agreed, minutes from bed to cooling.

  1. Agree the cap size with your buyer in writing before the flush.

  2. Walk the bed twice a day and pick at that size with the veil closed.

  3. Twist and lift, trim the base, and fill the hole with casing.

  4. Sort into three crates as you pick: clean, over size, damaged.

  5. Move crates to shade within minutes and water the bed after picking.
