Farm Hygiene

Field notes

Worker safety and the chemical boundary

Steam, formalin and bleaching agents are used on mushroom farms and all of them can injure people. Anyone applying them needs gloves, eye protection, a respirator suited to the job, and a room ventilated before the next person enters it.

This site prints no pesticide names or doses. Mushrooms are eaten fresh, approvals change, and a wrong dose becomes a residue on the crop.
