Log Cultivation

Practical workbook

Set up and label one trial stack

Record: Log number, species, diameter, felling and inoculation dates, monthly weights, first white.

  1. Select ten logs of 9 to 18 cm with bark intact.

  2. Weigh and number each log and note the felling date.

  3. Inoculate with laboratory spawn and seal each hole.

  4. Stack in shade and photograph the stack every month.

  5. Reweigh three logs monthly to track how much water is lost.
